As STAR Assistance, for transfers where air transport is not medically or logistically preferred, especially between neighboring countries and regional cross-border transfers, we provide end-to-end (bed-to-bed) healthcare logistics through our “International Ground Ambulance” network.
International patient transfer is not an ordinary road journey; it is a complex operation requiring customs crossings, cross-border documentation management and long-term medical stabilization. STAR Assistance’s independent fleet, equipped with its own corporate identity and international transit documents, creates an uninterrupted “green corridor” between two countries without being delayed by bureaucratic obstacles.

In long-duration cross-border journeys, the physical comfort of the patient is as important to the success of the operation as the stability of vital signs. With this awareness, our fleet is specially designed for long-range medical transport requirements and VIP standards, completely different from standard emergency response vehicles:
Special Pneumatic Suspension System: Advanced suspension infrastructure that reduces vibration and shaking (transport trauma) to zero during long road transfers. This system provides vital and comfortable stabilization especially for orthopedic cases, spinal trauma and post-operative patients.
Ergonomic Patient Bed Concept: Instead of standard narrow ambulance stretchers, multi-position and extended special medical bed systems that allow the patient to travel with the comfort of a real clinical bed during long journeys without the risk of pressure sores (decubitus).
Mobile Intensive Care (ICU) Equipment: The cabin of our vehicles is equipped with transport ventilators at aviation standards, multiple infusion pumps, invasive monitoring devices and redundant power/oxygen sources. Patients requiring advanced life support (ALS) are transported uninterruptedly from one hospital intensive care unit to another.
International Road Safety and Visibility: With advanced blue beacon warning systems fully compliant with international road standards and regional regulations, maximum road safety, fast passage advantage and high visibility are ensured at border gates and in transit countries.
Operational Management and Customs Coordination
The logistical and legal dimensions of cross-border transfer are managed by the STAR Assistance operations center as much as the medical dimension:
Customs and Visa Coordination: Passport/visa procedures of the patient and companions, as well as medical clearance priorities at border gates, are coordinated in advance.
Multilingual Medical Team: Thanks to our medical personnel who speak the languages of the countries along the route or English, there is no communication gap with border authorities and local hospitals where handover will be made.
Uninterrupted Tracking: Our vehicles are tracked instantly with satellite tracking systems; assistance firms, insurance companies and patients’ relatives are informed at every stage of the transfer about the route and estimated time of arrival (ETA).
